Betsy is a passionate Early Childhood Educator and Atelierista with many years of experience fostering creative expression and inquiry-based learning with young children. She is grounded in a social constructivist approach that respects children as capable and curious learners. Her passion is creating nurturing spaces that spark innate curiosity and empower children to express their thoughts and ideas through creativity and meaningful inquiry.
Betsy’s expertise lies in making children’s learning visible through rich documentation, co-constructing curriculum based on children’s interests, and utilizing the environment as the “third teacher.”
Beyond the classroom, Betsy is deeply committed to advancing early childhood education practices as a long-standing member of the San Diego Reggio Roundtable. She is married to her best friend, Andrew, and has two grown children, Jackson and Mo. When not at school, you’ll likely find Betsy at the beach in Del Mar with her dog, Luna, and a good book.
