In NYC on Broadway!
Lulu Lloyd is a La Jolla Native and graduate of La Jolla United Methodist Nursery School, Stella Maris Academy and La Jolla High School. From a young age, Lulu had a passion to perform on stage and was involved in Deidre Andrew’s children’s theatre in La Jolla and at San Diego Junior Theatre. She performed at The Starlight Theatre in Balboa Park and The Lyric Opera of San Diego during High School and at age 17 was invited to perform as Ado Annie in “Oklahoma” in Northern California at Sierra Repertory Theatre. It was there she decided to make acting on stage a profession and obtained her union status as a member of Actor’s Equity Association.
She then performed in Los Angeles at Musical Theatre West and Cabrillo Music Theatre where her performance as Lucy in “Jekyll and Hyde” garnered her an Ovation Award Nomination for Best Lead Actress in a Musical. She decided to study acting, film and television and graduated from the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. Upon graduation she went on to perform in regional theatre across the country and Off-Broadway at such theatres as The Signature Theatre, Pearl Theatre Company, York Theatre Company, Playwrites Horizons, Merry-Go-Round Playhouse and Theatre by the Sea, to name a few.
San Diego theatergoers may have caught her in Steve Martin and Edie Brickell’s “Bright Star” at The Old Globe in 2014. In 2015, Lulu made her Broadway debut in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “School of Rock” the musical. Here she served as Swing and Dance Captain, understudying 10 different onstage roles including two principle roles and offstage training all of the replacement cast members; teaching over 185 tracks in addition to maintaining the choreography of the show.
Starting 1/15/19 Lulu will be performing in the Ensemble and understudying the role of Jenna in the Broadway National Tour of “Waitress”.
